In 40 years of Formula 1, many things have changed—regulations, drivers, circuits, and, undoubtedly, the cars—but the passion that binds Tag Heuer Replica to this world seems unchanged. TAG Heuer is presenting itself at Baselworld with a major reissue of the TAG Heuer Monza chronograph to celebrate the milestone that a brand so deeply connected to the world of racing dreams of (and achieves): the first F1 world championship title, won by the legendary Niki Lauda with a TAG-sponsored Ferrari in 1976.

That same year, Jack Heuer (great-grandson of the manufacturer’s founder) designed a futuristic watch in honor of the title, featuring a black cushion case, pulsometer scale, and tachymeter—essential for the true speed enthusiast or for keeping track of your heart rate during the final lap of a Grand Prix.
Today’s reissue of the TAG Heuer Monza is very faithful to the original model—it features a racing red second hand and a black full-grain leather strap—but it also features the hallmarks of 40 years of innovation, such as the orange SuperLuminova-coated hour and minute hands, the 42mm grade 5 titanium case, and the automatic Caliber 17 movement, either an ETA 2894-2 or SellitaSW300. The pushers and crown remain in polished steel, lending a vintage and original touch. On the dial, the classic white HEUER lettering, a staple of the Heritage line, supports the (prestigious) model inscription: MONZA. Completing the look is the screw-down case back, which features the historic HEUER logo (unfortunately not visible in the press photos) in lacquered red, guaranteeing water resistance to 100 meters.

Just enough time to ideally leave the Geneva Motor Show (here’s the link to the article) and tomorrow, in Basel, we’ll rediscover the strong connection with F1 represented by the TAG Heuer Monza. Could this be Ferrari’s year, as it was for Lauda? Or perhaps, given the recent collaboration agreement with Red Bull, could it be (once again) the year of the bull?
